The market town of Alton springs to life every second Saturday of the month with the arrival of the Hampshire Farmers’ Market which attracts an average of three thousand, five hundred visitors to see the thirty plus stalls, full of the abundance of local, in season Hampshire produce including meat, eggs, fresh and smoked fish, cheese, cakes, wine, cider, bread, jams and pickles and fresh fruits and vegetables. There is always a great selection of delicious food as well, including salt beef sandwiches, beef burgers, egg and bacon rolls, ideal for a breakfast on the go, brunch or lunch.
(A local Arts and Crafts organisation also holds their market on the same day in the town’s Market Square, which complements our local food produce market.)
