The 2014 Maldon Mudrace will take place on Sunday 25th May 2014 at the Promenade Park in Maldon, Essex …we hope you will join us! Entry Forms for the 2014 Maldon Mud Race are now available here…
Competitors, spectators and press from all over the world enjoyed the best of British Bank Holiday weather at The 2013 Maldon Mud Race in Promenade Park. Footballing legend, Martin Peters officially launched the event to a huge crowd of in excess of 16,000 visitors and press from all over Europe, including Italy and Germany.
The endurance event features 300 fund-raising entrants running across thick mud at low tide in Maldon, Essex with many attired in colourful fancy dress in an effort to raise large sums for charities.
The day involves 12 months of pre-planning. As the event has grown, we now feature a Competitor Fancy Dress competition and Maldon Duck Race plus sell promotional T-shirts etc.
The Event would not happen without the support of our sponsors and for many years, we have received huge assistance from both Tiptree Jams/Wilkins & Sons and Essex County Council. This year, Chelmsford-based Mack Mazda brought down an impressive VIP truck with aerial viewing area plus a wide range of Mazda cars – they also entered a team of 6 dressed up as the Stig to raise additional funds. Another local business, Benton Hall Golf Club help with our competitor warm up.
Last year we distributed in excess of £55,000 – this year’s major beneficiaries include Headway, J’s Hospice, MacMillan Cancer Support plus other smaller local recipients – and the majority are Essex-based. We are hosting this sponsor event and awards evening for competitors and are always looking for new sponsors please contact Brian Farrington.
The popularity of the Maldon Mud Race continues to provide a great days entertainment, with many worthwhile charities benefiting from the event. Next year, Maldon Mud Race Ltd. will be nominating the 4 main charities to receive a share of the total funds raised.
